Tokyo Tech researchers developed new green catalyst for ammonia production. Ammonia (NH3) is synthesized globally for use in fertilizers that then enable food production for approximately 70 % of the world’s population. However, the current production process requires high energy powered by fossil fuels contributing global warming.
