Mr. Carl Bosch contributed significantly to the development of the chemical high pressure method during the establishment of the new ammonia industry in the early 20th century.
"The eminent distinction of the Nobel Prize award which imposes on me the pleasant duty of delivering a lecture to you to-day is in recognition of the development of the high pressure techniques, i.e. the methods used to perform chemical reactions at elevated temperature under pressures of 100 atmospheres and higher. The technical development of these processes within the I.G. Farbenindustrie concern, a task with which I have been entrusted for about 25 years, posed a profusion of scientific, technical and economic problems the solution of which occupied hundreds of scientists and which affords a living to many thousands of people." was part of his Nobel Proze award lecture, which is hereby enclosed.
