Gaus, Meiser and Ebenhardt of BASF in Germany claim a urea production process where ammonia and carbon dioxide are not compressed before these are fed to the reactor. This patent claims that no or only a small compressor is needed as ammonia and carbon dioxide are distilled from a solution by means of heat and then fed to the reactor. This solution could be for example ammonium carbonate or carbamate which is heated by 12 bar steam.
