This patent describes an invention, which is claimed to be applicable for several processes such as ammonia, methanol and urea synthesis.
It describes a process where the reactor outlet is first cooled to condense and condensable product at reactor pressure. The condensed product is then separated from the uncondensed product which is a mixture of inerts and reactant gasses. This uncondensed mixture is send to an absorber column where it is washed with an absorbent . The reactants gasses and a part of the inerts absorbed in the absorbent is recycled back to the reactor. In fact we read hear the HP scrubber in a urea plant.
