The paper gives an insight into the implementation of asset integrity management (AIM) for static equipment covering planning, preparation and relevant damage mechanisms. The paper throws light on the benefits Chambal Fertilisers and Chemicals Limited (CFCL) derived by having AIM in place. Asset integrity is defined as the ability of an asset to perform its required function effectively and efficiently, whilst protecting health, safety and the environment. An AIM can further be described as the continuous assessment process applied throughout design, construction, operation, maintenance and inspection. in order to maximize production, CFCL adopted the philosophy of continuous running of the plants for two consecutive years. To make this happen, all the assets forming part of plant and machinery required assessment and attention. this formed the basis for designing the framework for AIM at CFCL.
