      Dear Mark,

      We have noticed many, many cracks like pinholes after we have installed tracing six months ago. Before we did not have such problems. As I understood it was a common mistake.

          Is cristallization still avalaible in new plants or rather evaporation is more popular in present technology? Is it possible to revamp with crystallization?

                Dear All,

                According to ISO 22241 requirements AdBlue should be colourless, clear liquid. Do you test your DEF solution for clearness, ie. NTU scale?

                    Dear Hussain,

                    In Police we do passivation in specific conditions (STAC falling film HPCC plant):
                    Necessary conditions during passivation:

                    • Pressure in synthesis: ~ 8.0 MPa
                    • O2 content in CO2: – above 1% (control on a regular basis)
                    • Steam pressure in MP steam tank (steam for HP stripper): – 2.1 MPa
                    • Steam pressure at steam tanks (connected with falling film HPCC): – 0.5 – 0.55 MPa
                    • Cooling water temperature falling film HPCC: – 110 – 115 ° C
                    • Minimal CO2 flow for synthesis: 60% yield
                    • The pressure on the compressor CO2 min. 10.0 MPa, temperature 100 ° C (flow of CO2 for synthesis choked by valve)

                    The time to reach the required conditions is about 3 hours *.
                    The minimum passivation time under given conditions is at least 6 hours *.

                    * for approximately 3 hours, the passivation conditions should be adjusted, followed by min. 6 hours to maintain the above conditions by passivating the synthesis apparatus.

                        Dear Mark,

                        Could you advice which pulsation dampeners producers to choose? We are worring about corrosion from ammonia and carbamate side. I think our pulsation dampeners can corrode and it can cause future problems.

                        Any advice what is the alternative way to replace pulsation dampeners? Which one to choose?

                          Dear All,

                          We have changed NH3 pump seal to ammonia water. We use 5-6% ammonia water with 0,2% urea content on enter. On exit from plungers we have discovered increase of ammonia and urea in the ammonia water (20-40% ammonia content and 4-6% urea content).

                          What can be the reason? Modification was made by Flow Serve. Our pump is 5-plunger type.

                                Dear Mark,

                                Yes, we talk about a Stac CO2 stripping plant with falling film HPCC.

                                We noticed that Ni level started to decrease in HP Scrubber, in other equipment we have stable Ni level. We started measure Ni level in HP carbamate pump and we have noticed high level as well.

                                Can it be a reason of high Ni level in HP Scrubber? Do you measure Ni level in LP section as well?

                                  Dear Mark,

                                  Thank you for quick reply! We decided to increase amount of oxygene in urea synthesis from 0,8 to 1,1%. We have noticed that passive corrosion started to decrease.

                                  Do you have any advice what could happened?
