Another great milestone in ammonia engine development: Our partner Mitsui E&S has successfully started the test operation of the world’s first commercial large-bore ammonia engine!
The project builds on the groundbreaking R&D work of our engineering team at MAN Energy Solutions running both single-cylinder and full-engine ammonia-fueled tests at our Copenhagen Research Centre. Now, the test at Mitsui’s Tamano Factory in Japan marks the world’s first test run with ammonia fuel on a commercial large-bore, low-speed, two-stroke engine: The MAN B&W 7S60ME-C10.5-LGIA.
Congratulations to Mitsui for this outstanding achievement. Our joint development of the ammonia-fueled engine is a major step towards the decarbonization of shipping.
