      Dear Habib
      we had faced like this situation during first start up a new stamicarbon plant,during start up we could’nt control the stripper level because a nut was on the seat of control valve .we s/d the plant and check the inside of the control valve and we saw the damage nut by stem forcing ‘

            Take control valve on Manual mode and operate according to temperature of stripper bottom and also watch pressure of HP and MP Pressure. At that condition you can easily find out opening of valve at particular plant load. Adjust DP purge water (in case DP type transmitter) and try to take on auto if possible. The temperature of Stripper bottom low at very high and very low level. If HP loop pressure dropped then the level emptied out. You can run on manual mode by experience.

              Stripper level transmitter, LT-41011 malfunctioned and caused full opening of its control valve, LV-41011. HP section pressure decreased due to escape of gases to MP section causing high pressure / excess CO2 in the system. E-4106 outlet temperature increased to 101°C from 82°C. Boardman put LV-41011 on manual from auto mode and decreased its opening from 106% to 46% which was the normal opening to normalize load on MP section. During this period CO2 slipped in Ammonia receiver, V-4105 from C-4101. The combined effect of CO2 slippage and reduction in MP section pressure caused vapor locking of P-4105A and subsequent tripping of P-4101B on low electric power consumption, IXL-41004. b) Stripper level transmitter, LT-4101 calibration was checked.

                No change has been observed in the Steam flow towards Stripper.

                    Dear Ahmad Habib,
                    In running plant you have already take action. Now you may take shut down and solve the problem by dropping the Control valve. After feed cut you may try at the pressure of 80-90 kg/cm2 by flushing u/s and d/s and drained the solution through drain line to C/D.

                      Dear Mr Prem Baboo,
                      Thank you for your suggestions. We can try stroking the Stripper level’s valve while taking control over MOV at the valve’s downstream. However, if there is any foreign object inside the LCV, it might get stuck in the MOV’s body. What do you suggest?

                        Following hit and trail action may be taken, this valve air failure to closed
                        1. Air cut off and then try direct air pressure without regulator.
                        2. Heat up the line near control valve body
                        3. Open on manually(hand jack)
                        4. Flushing to be carried out u/s and downstream of the valve.
                        5. If trial this valve open fully and level not control by auto then valve to be full opened and control manually by d/s motorized valve by manually.

                          Dear all,
                          Recently we had reduced our Urea Plant (Snamprogetti) load to 55% due to Scrapper’s floor washing.
                          Upon completion of the washing activity, we got stuck at increasing our plant load. The main reason was that the Strippers (E-01) level valve LV-1011 opening was not allowing us to achieve the same bottom temperature as per the previous trend. We keep our level valve on manual due to erratic response of the level transmitter.
                          There is a difference of 10% in the level valve opening of E-01 as the opening had increased than before, rest all the other parameters are constant, including Plant load. One possibility is about any foreign object stuck at LV-1011, restricting the flow/valve opening.

                          Has anyone experienced such issue before? If yes, can you please explain the reason(s)?
