In Incident Case 19-006 a leak did occur in the bottom of a HP scrubber. The schematic above shows the principle cause of the incident: The leak did backflow to the normal flow direction likely because the leak was so large that the rotameter located between the equipment and the suction side of the pump caused a too large pressure drop. Part of the leak did backflow and created clogging in the other leak detection circuits of the same equipment and in the other high pressure equipment items.
In an active vacuum based leak detection system, such a scenario is not likely.

Issues with this system are:
1) The frequent false alarms appear during the rainy season
2) The clogging risk is frequent. In any case of a liner leak the alarm did not appear
3) The conductivity base element sometimes was found corroded.
