BALLESTRA and Samruk Kazyna sign a Strategic Cooperation Agreement for the the construction of a sulphuric acid plant in Kazakhstan

In the frame of the state visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, to the Italian Republic held on 18th January 2024, Ballestra and Samruk-Kazyna have signed a Strategic Cooperation Agreement for the construction of a sulphuric acid plant to support expansion of uranium mining operations.​
The sulphuric acid plant with a capacity of 800,000 metric tons per year will be built in Taikonur, Turkestan region. It will be based on MECS Elessent technology.​

Paolo Iengo, Ballestra’s Managing Director said: “After having successfully supplied two similar plants in the past years, we are delighted to further strengthen our cooperation with Kazakhstan and support the country’s impressive industrial growth.”​

Ballestra is an Italian engineering process company with extensive know-how and references in inorganic chemistry, fertilizers and chemicals for the detergent industry.​
