Ensuring efficient yield of crops to fulfill the worldwide demand for food is a top research priority in agriculture today. To support the quality and quantity of the crop yields, the range of novel fertilizers are under exploration, but the market is still in a need of urea and its analogues. Urea is globally the most commonly utilized nitrogen fertilizer, extensively employed in agriculture practices, although it faces many issues such as significant nutrient loss through volatilization and leaching, thus causing pollution and decreased nutritional efficiency. To address these difficulties, experts have focused on creating the novel responsive formulations of urea that can increase nitrogen use efficiency and better plant uptake and reduced environmental effect. This study provides a detailed summary of new urea formulations, their impact on crop growth and yield, recommended concentrations etc. The article also examines how much urea should be applied, how it works in the crop, any possible disadvantages, and areas that need further research. And finally, it offers insights into the future possibilities related to the findings discussed.
