2022 07 Akbari Refractory Casting in Secondary Reformer at KPIC (phase II) – An Experience

Refractories are heat resistant materials which are used in almost process involving high temperatures. these materials are used to protect industrial equipment such as utility boilers, heaters, ammonia primary and secondary reformers against heat and chemical attack. Insulation refractory is affected by providing a layer of material having low heat conductivity which means heat does not readily pass through them. This technical report explains different stages of refractory casting in the secondary reformer of an ammonia plant that is located in Kermanshah province of Iran (K.P.I.C PHASE II). The pouring operation has been done at three stages while pouring of every section was casted nonstop and lasted three days totally.
