2021 04 Jha Shortening of two bimetallic urea strippers in situ
Two bimetallic urea strippers which had been in service for more than 20 years were reaching the end of their operational life due to corrosion at the bottom tubesheet that affected the tubesheet, the tube protrusion and the tube-to- tubesheet weld joints.
This paper details a unique restoration operation that extended the equipment’s life and reliability by several years by removing and restoring the tube protrusions and tube-to-tubesheet joints at the bottom tubesheet by shortening the stripper length of 40mm.
