2017 03 Mostert Stamicarbon Maximum load test at a large scale urea plant

In accordance with increased production capacity of the recent ammonia plants, the production capacity of urea plants becomes large. Plants producing less than 1 million metric tons per year are classed as standard plants. Plants producing between 1 and 1.3 million metric tons per year (approx 3,000 to 3,800 mtpd) in a single line are classed as mega plants and plants with capacities of 4,200 to 5,000 mtpd, are so-called jumbo plants.This paper reports how Stamicarbon made a mega-capacity urea plant to reach the urea production capacity of 4000 mtpd.
