2017 02 Barua KAFCO Operation difficulties at LP carbamate condenser due to crystallization

The gas mixture is introduced into the bottom of the LP Carbamate Condenser together with other solutions from the Reflux Condenser, from the flash tank condenser, ammonia water tank and liquid ammonia. The heat of condensation in the LP Carbamate Condenser is removed by circulating tempered cooling water. The carbamate formed as a result of NH3 and C02 condensation is recycled to the synthesis. The crystallization point of the carbamate produced in the LP Carbamate Condenser depends not only on the water concentration but also on the ammonia/carbon dioxide ratio. In the following paper you will see the operational difficulties and measures of low pressure carbamate condenser in urea plants.
