2006 Hussain FFC Developing Safety, FFC III Experience

The phenomenal success story of Fauji Fertilizer’s accusation of an old fertilizer plant and converting it into trend setting reality is not a one line newspaper heading but a cover story encompassing a well planned and executed conquest. Every organization has a culture: a set of written and unwritten rules and assumptions that defines and determines how things are done. However, not every culture is dedicated to safety of all employees and minimization of risk. The mission at FFC-III was to change the paradigm from “Safety is an expense” to “Safety is an investment” in the company most valuable asset – its manpower. In this paper we have given a brief account of our efforts in developing a safety culture. It’s the reader’s prerogative to judge that to what extent we are successful in doing so.
