This patent describes an apparatus for endothermic dissolutions in water including a mixing tank, wherein solute is slurried with water; pump and spray pipe, for spraying the slurry into a spray box and a fan for drawing ambient air upwardly in direct heat exchange with the descending slurry droplets. Dissolution is promoted as the droplets extract heat from the countercurrent flow of air.
